Cleanings
Even if you are diligent in your oral care regimen, dental plaque can still accumulate and cause damage and infection to your teeth and gums. That is why we strongly recommend a dental cleaning appointment every six months.
During a dental cleaning appointment, we will examine your teeth and gums for oral issues. If we detect plaque, we will do deep cleaning of your teeth by using an ultrasonic device to remove calculus from your teeth, and brush your teeth with an abrasive toothbrush to clean and smoothen the enamel so that bacteria cannot find purchase on it again.
We will also floss your teeth professionally between the gums and below the gumline and perform fluoride treatment to create a protective barrier on your teeth.
Exams
Scientists believe that an unhealthy mouth does not just result in dental and periodontal diseases but also adversely affects your overall health. That is why, at Beautiful Smiles, we strongly suggest you set a dental exam appointment with us.
A dental exam is a multi-step approach during which we review your medical history to determine if certain health conditions can increase the risk of oral disease and to ensure your medication does not adversely interact with dental procedures.
We will also perform a visual and physical exam on your mouth to check for suspicious signs like the presence of tartar, cavities, bleeding, or swollen gums. In some cases, we may also recommend digital x-rays to diagnose oral health issues that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
This can help us spot oral issues in their early stages and prevent further decay.
Dental X-Rays
Dental X-rays are a crucial component of helping you to maintain optimal oral health. X-rays allow us to see the hidden areas of your mouth, including between your teeth and below your gum line. We can spot decay between teeth, root damage, bone loss, impacted teeth, and monitor the growth and development of the jaw and adult teeth. X-rays also enable us to spot issues that we would not otherwise be able to notice until more serious symptoms develop. With a more accurate diagnosis, we are then able to create a much more effective treatment plan.
